Sindh Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah on Wednesday met a delegation of Ulema-e-Ahle Sunnat, during which detailed discussions were held on law and order, security arrangements, religious harmony, municipal facilities and various public issues related to the holy months of Muharram-ul-Haram and Rabi-ul-Awwal.

The delegation was led by Hafiz Jameel Rathore. During the meeting, both sides agreed on maintaining and further promoting peace, brotherhood and interfaith harmony during Muharram-ul-Haram and Rabi-ul-Awwal.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah said that people belonging to all schools of thought had love and reverence for Ahl-e-Bait (RA), and this spirit played a vital role in strengthening national unity and religious harmony.

He said the Sindh government was in close coordination with all relevant institutions to ensure the peaceful conduct of religious gatherings, processions and events, and that all possible facilities would be provided in this regard.

Shah said that a meeting of the Ulema-e-Ahle Sunnat delegation with the chief minister, home minister and all concerned deputy commissioners would soon be arranged so that their issues and proposals could be presented directly before the relevant authorities.

He directed that a list of necessary development works related to the infrastructure of mosques, seminaries and imambargahs be prepared at the earliest, adding that the provision of basic facilities at religious places remains among the government’s priorities.

The minister also announced the construction of a pedestrian bridge near Rabia City for public convenience, stating that the project would facilitate easier movement for citizens. He further directed the concerned authorities to provide a detailed list of sensitive locations, mosques, seminaries and imambargahs ahead of Rabi-ul-Awwal to ensure effective security measures.

Shah said that comprehensive and effective security planning would be undertaken to minimise inconvenience to citizens caused by road closures during religious processions and gatherings.

On the occasion, the Ulema-e-Ahle Sunnat delegation assured full cooperation with the Sindh government, the city’s administration and law enforcement agencies during Muharram-ul-Haram and Rabi-ul-Awwal, reiterating their commitment to promoting peace, brotherhood and religious harmony.

Appreciating the positive role of the delegation, Shah thanked its members for maintaining religious harmony, fostering brotherhood and cooperating with the government. He said that the role of scholars and spiritual leaders from all schools of thought is of immense importance in promoting peace, unity and tolerance in Sindh.
