Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Tuesday said the Pakistan People Party (PPP) was hand in glove with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to destroy Karachi.
Addressing participants of a public campaign in Karachi, the JI chief said after the political demise of the MQM, the time had come to get rid of the PPP that had become the establishment’s A plus team.
He was of the view that people of Karachi and the rest of Pakistan were partners in progress and prosperity, and the JI was standing with the public against injustice and bad governance. He said citizens were facing severe difficulties because of inflation, unemployment and poor governance. The ruling elite and powerful groups continued to benefit while ordinary people were burdened by economic hardships, he added.
He criticised government policies, saying that national resources were exploited by vested interests. He called for accountability, transparent governance and policies that served the public rather than privileged groups. He urged the people, especially the youth, to participate actively in efforts aimed at reform and public welfare.
