LAHORE:A day after Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan threatened to quit office if he fails to run the House as per the rules, on Wednesday he issued warning to all the MPAs including the ministers not to dictate him and tell him how to conduct the proceedings.
At a time when Sheikh Imtiaz Ahmad of Opposition was continuing his speech, there was issue related to order in the House and members from the government side also tried to press the Speaker not to grant more than the decided time to the Opposition. Over this, Speaker remarked that he was issuing a warning for the last time to the members sitting on their seats, not to dictate him.
He also addressed Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman in this regard and stated he would name the MPA if this thing happened again.
This is pertinent to mention that for last couple of days, it has become obvious that Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has been expressing his displeasure openly on the performance and remarks of some of the provincial ministers. A day ago, the speaker stated that he would give every constitutional right to the Opposition in the House and also said he could quit office when anything clashes with the principles.
