The investigations into the speeding vehicle incident that occurred on Sunday near an imambargah in the Defence area have been transferred to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), following official orders issued by DIG Amir Farooqi, chief of the crime and investigation department of the Sindh police.
Officials said a case related to the incident had already been registered at the Darakhshan Police Station under provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). The FIR included charges of attempted murder, damage to property and other relevant offences in light of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A written order issued by DIG Farooqui directed that the case file and all related evidence be handed over to the CTD for further investigations. The move is aimed at ensuring a comprehensive probe into the incident and determining whether any elements of terrorism or deliberate intent were involved.
The incident took place when a speeding vehicle crashed near an imambargah in Defence, creating panic among residents and visitors in the vicinity. The authorities have reiterated their commitment to conducting a transparent and thorough investigation. Further legal action will be taken in accordance with the findings of the CTD inquiry, police officials added.
