ALPURI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Yousafzai on Monday asked the provincial government to launch a high-level inquiry into development projects completed in Shangla over the past several years and examine the utilisation of public funds.

In a written application submitted to Local Government Minister Meena Khan Afridi, he called for an independent and comprehensive investigation into projects executed by the Local Government and Rural Development Department, Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs), and other development agencies operating in the district.

According to the application, billions of rupees have been spent on development schemes in Shangla since the end of the PTI-led provincial government in 2022. However, questions have repeatedly been raised by the public about the quality, transparency, and proper utilisation of funds allocated for these projects.

Yousafzai said that allegations of irregularities and corruption in development works had surfaced from various quarters in recent weeks, making an impartial investigation essential to establish the facts.

He urged the provincial government to constitute an independent high-level commission to thoroughly review all completed development projects in Shangla, including the allocation of funds, tendering procedures, construction quality, and administrative practices.

The PTI leader stressed that the inquiry should be conducted without discrimination and that no individual, institution, or political figure should receive preferential treatment. He called for strict legal action against anyone found responsible for financial mismanagement or administrative irregularities.
