LAHORE:Following the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan continued her visits to districts to review Muharram security and civic arrangements, visiting Kasur along with RPO Sheikhupura Athar Ismail.

During the visit, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asif Raza and the DPO briefed the commissioner on security and administrative measures for Muharram. They informed her that 109 processions and 506 majalis are scheduled to be held across the district.

The commissioner and RPO Athar Ismail inspected the main Muharram procession route on foot and reviewed security, cleanliness and municipal arrangements.The commissioner met organisers of imambargahs and mosques, while religious scholars reaffirmed their commitment to inter-sect harmony and assured full cooperation with the district administration for maintaining peace during Muharram.

She also reviewed arrangements for sabeels (water stalls) and inspected mobile water supply vehicles deployed for mourners.Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Marryam Khan said the main procession route had been inspected in line with the final action plan and all arrangements were being implemented according to government instructions and standard operating procedures.

She said patchwork, street lighting and drainage facilities had been ensured along Muharram routes and directed the deputy commissioner and district police officer to remain in close coordination with all stakeholders to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram.
