LAHORE:The Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore (SPAL) has stepped up cleanliness operations in Lahore’s suburban and rural areas to implement Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Suthra Punjab” vision and improve sanitation standards beyond the city’s urban centres.

Special sanitation arrangements have been made in outlying areas, with dedicated staff and machinery deployed for sweeping, washing, waste removal and door-to-door garbage collection. As part of the campaign, operational teams carried out manual and mechanical washing of roads and public spaces during the early morning hours at Atta Bakhsh Road, Gajju Matta Chowk and around the Hadyara drains in Nishtar Town.

On the directions of Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Babar Sahib Din, more than 1,500 sanitation workers, 283 operational vehicles and 313 loader rickshaws have been deployed in Nishtar Town to support the drive. Under the special cleanliness campaign, 22 identified waste hotspots and vacant plots in Haloki, Chandray, Kahna Nau, Gajju Matta and along Bedian Road have been cleared of accumulated garbage. Heavy machinery was also utilised for waste removal operations on Ashiana Road, Awan Market, Kacha Jail Road and Chungi Amar Sidhu, while container clearance and manual sweeping activities were completed in Township, Green Town and Bagrian.

SPAL officials said the phased zero-waste initiative was continuing across all towns of Lahore to further enhance sanitation conditions and ensure a cleaner environment for residents.Citizens have been urged to cooperate with sanitation workers and report cleanliness-related complaints through the Suthra Punjab helpline (1139) or the agency’s social media platforms.
