LAHORE:Punjab Minister for Energy and Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar has said that a new era of sports development has begun in the province in line with the vision of CM Punjab. He said that special attention is also being given to rural areas to ensure that quality sports facilities are available to young people regardless of their location.
Addressing the Punjab Assembly session on Monday, the minister highlighted the government’s comprehensive strategy to promote sports and provide modern facilities to young athletes across the province. He announced that Punjab would host the CM Punjab Youth Games this year, providing a major platform for emerging talent to showcase their abilities.
Faisal Khokhar informed the House that construction work on 188 state-of-the-art sports complexes is currently underway across the province. He added that the government plans to establish two sports grounds in every union council, while sports grounds will also be developed in 1,000 public schools to encourage participation in healthy and constructive activities.
Faisal Khokhar emphasised that engaging youth in positive and productive activities remains one of the Punjab government’s top priorities. He added that the province is being prepared to host sporting events of international standards, which will help enhance Punjab’s reputation as a hub of sports excellence.
The minister reiterated the govt’s commitment to providing every child and young person with equal opportunities to participate in sports, describing it as a fundamental responsibility of the state. He expressed confidence that ongoing investments in sports infrastructure and athlete development would pave the way for a brighter future for sports in Punjab.
