Mardan residents want sale of ‘poisonous’ pills banned

MARDAN: The residents here on Tuesday expressed serious concern over the open sale of poisonous pills used to preserve wheat that continued to cause the loss of precious human lives.Citizens said that several families suffered human losses due to the alleged use of wheat pills.

They said that these dangerous pills were available not only in big markets in Mardan city but also in small shops in villages.They argued that these poisonous pills, which are used to protect wheat from pests, were extremely deadly and their use posed serious risks to human life.

The citizens demanded that the district administration, food department and other relevant institutions impose a ban on the illegal purchase and sale of poisonous pills and take legal action against those flouting safety protocols.

They demanded that only licensed and certified individuals be allowed to buy and sell such poisonous drugs, while their availability in general stores should be immediately stopped to prevent the loss of more precious lives.
