MIRPUR: Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore Tuesday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to utilising all available resources to ensure peace and security throughout the sanctified month of Muharram to provide a safe environment for citizens across the region, it was officially said.
In a message on the eve of Muharram, the prime minister emphasised the importance of maintaining peace, inter-sect harmony, and strict security arrangements across the region during the holy month of Muharram commencing from today (June 17).
The AJK premier instructed the police, district administration, and all law enforcement agencies to remain on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any untoward situation.Rathor further directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to remain present in the field to monitor security arrangements.
The PM also issued special instructions to provide all basic facilities to participants along Muharram procession routes. In view of the intense summer heat, the provision of clean drinking water and medical aid was ordered to be prioritized.
Meanwhile, prominent religious leaders from different schools of thoughts expressed their determination to observe sanctified month of Muharram especially Youm-e-Ashur falling on June 26 with full religious respect and honor.
At the same time they expressed concern over the negative impact of ongoing protests on the part of the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee and the enforcement of Section 144 on religious gatherings during the sacred month of Muharram.
