LAHORE:Student projects focusing on digital solutions and the commercial viability of art took centre stage at the Government College University (GCU) BFA Graphic Design and Painting Degree Show 2026 on Thursday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Omer Chaudhary and featured works exploring contemporary branding, social awareness and heritage conservation.

Prominent exhibits included a privacy awareness campaign, a tactile texture book for children, brand identity campaigns and advertising concepts aimed at reviving the cultural heritage of Basant, alongside modern fashion art and Abaya dress designs.

Meanwhile, graduates from the painting programme exhibited artworks using diverse mediums, including detailed grayscale pencil work. Their canvases predominantly focused on the architectural heritage of GCU, the historic landscapes of the Walled City, and various pressing social issues.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Omer Chaudhary commended the concepts presented by the graduating class but emphasised the need for entrepreneurship, urging students to take their projects beyond the exhibition hall and into the market.

‘Merely presenting a good concept is not enough; translating these ideas into practical, marketable products is essential,’ the vice chancellor stated, directing the young artists to transform their academic projects into successful commercial ventures.
