I would like to highlight the immense passion and excitement for the FIFA World Cup 2026 among the people of Malir Siddique Village and Lyari, Karachi. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is being held in the US, Mexico and Canada. However, the craze for football among the people of Malir Siddique Village and Lyari is no less than that of the host countries. As the tournament approaches, football becomes the main topic of discussion in streets, playgrounds, tea stalls and community gatherings. Young and old alike eagerly follow their favourite teams and players. One of the most remarkable aspects of this passion is the decoration of the streets and neighbourhoods. Houses, shops, roads and playgrounds are adorned with colourful flags, banners and posters of participating countries.
Lyari has long been known as the football hub of Pakistan and Malir Siddique Village also has a rich football culture. Despite limited facilities and resources, the people of these areas continue to nurture talented footballers and keep the spirit of the game alive. I request the concerned authorities to recognise the football potential of these communities and provide better sports facilities and opportunities so that local talent can flourish and represent Pakistan at national and international levels.
