A large number of street vendors and pushcarts occupy the main roads, causing severe traffic congestion throughout the day in Karachi. As a result, commuters face unnecessary delays and pedestrians, especially women, children and elderly citizens, find it difficult and unsafe to cross the roads. The situation becomes even more concerning when ambulances, school vans and emergency vehicles get stuck in traffic due to these encroachments.
I request the local administration to take practical steps to address this problem. A designated vending area should be provided for vendors away from busy roads so that they can continue their businesses without disrupting traffic. The traffic police should also ensure proper monitoring during peak hours to keep the roads clear and safe for everyone.
