LAHORE : Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi, has announced a strict ban on the entry of oil tankers and all heavy vehicles into provincial capital during daytime hours.

The decision has been taken in view of increasing traffic congestion and the growing risk of road accidents involving heavy vehicles. According to the CTO, no heavy vehicle will be allowed to enter Lahore before 11:00 PM. Heavy traffic will only be permitted to operate within city limits between 11:00 PM and 6:30 AM. All heavy vehicles will be required to exit the city within the designated timeframe.

Shirazi stated that a zero-tolerance policy for heavy traffic movement during daytime hours will be strictly enforced across Lahore. Legal action will be taken against any vehicle found violating the prescribed timings. He emphasised that the primary objective of this initiative is to provide citizens with a safer travel environment, improve traffic mobility, and significantly reduce the occurrence of fatal road accidents. The measure is also expected to ease traffic congestion and enhance road safety for commuters throughout the city.
