LAHORE : A high-level delegation led by Minister for Agriculture, Punjab, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, visited the Agriculture Research Institute, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
The delegation, including Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Usama Khan Leghari, and Secretary Agriculture, Punjab, Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, visited various institutions aimed at aligning agricultural research in Punjab with international standards and strengthen collaboration with leading global institutions for the promotion of modern scientific research in the agriculture sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said that collaboration with the Agriculture Research Institute, Cambridge, would be sought to advance modern agricultural research in Punjab. He added that research collaboration will be launched between the Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), Faisalabad, and the Agriculture Research Institute, Cambridge.
He added that an MoU would be signed between the two institutions to promote collaborative agricultural research. The minister added that joint research efforts between the two organisations would help modernise agriculture in Punjab and contribute to the development of innovative agricultural solutions. On this occasion, Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said that cooperation with the Agriculture Research Institute, Cambridge, would enhance the professional capabilities of Punjab’s agricultural scientists.
