Sindh HEC launches blockchain skills development initiative with 85pc scholarship

The Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC), through its Directorate of Strategic Planning, has launched the Sindh Blockchain Skills Development Initiative, aimed at equipping university students with industry-relevant skills in blockchain technology and digital innovation.

Under the programme, the SHEC will provide an 85 per cent scholarship, reducing the student contribution to only Rs5,000 against the total programme cost of Rs33,300 per participant. According to the programme announcement, four leading universities have been selected as partner institutions: NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro, and Sukkur IBA University.

The initiative will accommodate 160 students from across Sindh and will focus on practical, industry-oriented training in blockchain technologies. The curriculum includes blockchain fundamentals, blockchain security, decentralised applications, cryptocurrency, smart contracts and hands-on smart contract development.
