Islamabad:Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad Police, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, has directed all police officials to ensure foolproof security arrangements and implement a comprehensive security plan across the federal capital during upcoming Muharram-ul-Haram.

The directives were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by DIG Tariq to review the capital's security strategy, traffic management, and the overall protection of religious gatherings. The meeting was attended by senior command, including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Security Operations Suleman Zafar, all zonal Superintendents of Police (SPs), Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), and Station House Officers (SHOs).

During the session, the DIG emphasised the need for maximum protection for participants of all majalis and processions. To achieve this, he instructed officers to step up patrolling at sensitive locations and enhance the effectiveness of ongoing search and combing operations throughout the city.

He stressed that maintaining close coordination with local peace committees, community leaders, and the administrators of Imambargahs is vital for generating a timely response to any developing situation.

Logistical preparations along procession routes were also a key focus of the meeting. The DIG ordered a thorough physical review of all routes, directing personnel to clear away bushes, wild vegetation, and any other physical obstacles that could compromise safety.

Additionally, a strict effective checking system is to be enforced at all city entry and exit points, as well as at Imambargahs, places of worship, and other designated sensitive locations.

To prevent security breaches, DIG Tariq mandated heightened surveillance, monitoring, and overall oversight across Islamabad. Security personnel will utilise metal detectors and modern screening equipment to thoroughly check citizens entering gatherings and processions. Addressing public convenience, the DIG noted that the traffic police will remain active around the clock during Muharram-ul-Haram.
