MARDAN: People have complained about an alarming increase in stray dog bite cases during the recent Eid holidays in Mardan city and surrounding areas.
According to official data, 172 cases of dog bites were reported at the Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) during the Eid days, while 30 affected people were provided medical assistance at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.
Sources said that the total number of dog bite cases at MMC has increased to 373, which is a matter of concern for the district administration and relevant departments.Residents said that the number of stray dogs is continuously increasing in Mardan city and surrounding areas, putting children, women, and elderly people at serious risk. They added that stray dogs roam freely in streets, markets, and residential areas, while the relevant departments appear unable to take effective action.
People have demanded that the district administration, local government, and health departments take urgent steps to control the increasing stray dog population so that the public can be protected from such attacks.
