Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh leader Kashif Saeed Sheikh on Saturday strongly criticised the Abraham Accords, describing them as a betrayal of Palestinian martyrs.
He reiterated that Palestine unquestionably belonged to the Palestinian people and rejected any recognition of Israel’s occupation as legitimate.
Sheikh said his remarks came at a time when Pakistanis continued to strongly oppose recognising what they consider an illegal occupation. He maintained that the Palestinian cause remained close to the hearts of the people of Pakistan.
Commenting on the ongoing power crisis, Sheikh said that despite the extreme heat in Sindh, residents were being subjected to prolonged loadshedding, which he described as a sign of governmental incompetence. He argued that it was unjust for the people of Sindh to endure such hardships despite the province producing a significant share of Pakistan’s energy.
“It is like rubbing salt into the wounds of the public,” he remarked.
During a visit to the Al Khidmat Qurbani Centre in Larkana, Sheikh praised Al Khidmat Foundation’s efforts to provide sacrificial meat to millions of underprivileged families across the country. He was accompanied by Jamaat-e-Islami Larkana District Ameer Advocate Nadir Ali Khosa and Al Khidmat President Hafiz Muhammad Yaqoob.
Sheikh also recalled that Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, had described Israel as an illegitimate state, adding that this view continued to resonate with many Pakistanis.
He further expressed concern over the law and order situation in Sindh, citing incidents of theft and the lack of basic public facilities, even during religious occasions such as Eid.
The JI leader also urged Muslim leaders not to succumb to United States policies associated with former President Donald Trump and instead focus on the welfare and interests of their own citizens.
