Karachi Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) General Secretary has strongly reacted to the government’s budget proposals, terming them oppressive and rejecting them in their entirety.

Commenting on the proposed budget, the PTI leader asserted that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) clique had failed to provide any relief to the public for the fourth consecutive time, and instead it continued to bleed the masses dry.

He said the government’s new budget would be a continuation of the rulers’ ‘eliminate the poor’ campaign. He asserted that a budget drafted entirely on dictations from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would be a direct compromise on national sovereignty.

Khalid highlighted that increasing taxes on solar panels, electric vehicles and hybrid cars was an act of economic enmity. He added that raising the GST to 18 per cent on information technology and digital products was a direct assault on the livelihoods of the youth.

Admonishing the ruling elite, he stated that the rulers continued to indulge in luxuries while shifting the entire financial burden onto the impoverished masses. The imposition of taxes on solar panels was a conspiracy to deprive the citizens of affordable electricity, effectively burying all claims of environmental protection by taxing green energy, he remarked.

According to the Karachi PTI general secretary, the overwhelming influx of taxes had broken the backbone of both the salaried class and local traders, warning that the 2026-27 budget would push the middle class well below the poverty line.

He cautioned that increasing taxes on vehicles would bring the automotive industry to the brink of complete destruction, proving that the incompetent rulers possessed absolutely no vision for economic recovery.

He emphasised that as long as the ‘Form 47’ government remained in power, the public should not expect any relief as the sole objective of the PDM clique was to protect their own corruption.

Addressing the issue of petroleum prices, Khalid pointed out that despite a significant decline in oil prices across global markets, the government failed to pass on any meaningful relief to the public. Instead of transferring the benefits of the global market drop to the citizens, the government continued to engage in blatant profiteering, he said.

He demanded an immediate reduction in the price of petrol to Rs250 per litre, reiterating the PTI’s firm commitment to raise concern over such anti-public decisions on every available forum.
