An 18-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after a domestic dispute with her husband in the Sukhiya Goth area near the Super Highway, police said on Saturday.
According to police officials, the incident took place in a house located on Street No. 1 in Sukhiya Goth within the limits of Site Super Highway. The woman was found hanged inside her home, prompting residents to inform authorities.
Upon receiving information, police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and took the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
The Police identified the deceased as 18-year-old Mehwish Razzaq. Officials said an initial investigation suggested that the incident was a case of suicide.
SHO Chaudhry Nawaz said that according to the preliminary inquiry and statements recorded from family members, Mehwish had reportedly asked her husband to take her out for outing. However, her husband refused, leading to an argument between the couple.
The family members told police that following the disagreement, Mehwish allegedly took the extreme step of ending her life by hanging herself inside the house.
Police officials said further investigation into the incident is ongoing to ascertain all aspects surrounding the woman’s death.
The body was handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities. Authorities said statements from relatives and other individuals present at the house are also being recorded as part of the investigation.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted concerns over domestic disputes and emotional distress, with police urging families to seek support and resolve conflicts through dialogue before situations escalate.
