IGP orders strict action over crimes targeting women, children

LAHORE/FAISALABAD : Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Abdul Kareem Saturday directed police officers to strictly enforce the zero-tolerance policy against crimes targeting women and children in line with CM’s vision.

During his visit to Faisalabad, the IGP said Punjab Police was taking practical measures to improve crime prevention, traffic management and delivery of justice to citizens to ensure a safe and crime-free society.

Upon his arrival at Police Lines Faisalabad, the IGP was received by RPO Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, CPO Tanveer Hussain and other senior officers, while a police contingent presented him a guard of honour. He also visited the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered prayers for the departed souls of police martyrs.

Later, addressing a meeting at Police Lines, Abdul Kareem said Punjab Police was actively working to strengthen law enforcement and public safety across the province.

The meeting was attended by DPO Jhang Sajid Hussain, DPO Toba Tek Singh Ikhlaq Ullah Tarrar, DPO Chiniot Dr Atif Naveed, CTO Nasir Rana, SSP Patrolling Mirza Anjum Kamal, divisional SPs and CTD officers.

The IGP stressed that officers should perform their duties with dedication while ensuring protection of citizens’ lives and property.

On the occasion, Abdul Kareem distributed commendation certificates and cash rewards among police officers of Faisalabad region for their outstanding performance.

Later, the IGP visited Safe City Faisalabad where SSP Safe City Fawad Ahmad briefed him on the Command and Control Centre, CCTV monitoring system and emergency response mechanism.

Reviewing the monitoring system, the IGP said the Safe City Project was playing an important role in protecting citizens’ lives and property and strengthening public confidence in police. He directed officers to make effective use of modern technology and further improve the monitoring system to provide a safer environment to the public.

The IGP said operationalisation of Safe City Faisalabad had significantly reduced heinous crimes in the region. He also appreciated the efforts of RPO Sohail Akhtar Sukhera in taking effective action against narcotics.

The IGP added that practical welfare measures for police personnel were also being implemented under the special initiatives of the CM.
