LAHORE : Liaquatabad police arrested a man for allegedly assaulting members of a polio vaccination team and refusing to allow children to receive anti-polio drops during the ongoing campaign.
According to SP Model Town, the polio team had visited the house of a man identified as Tayyab to administer polio drops to children in the area.
Police said the suspect not only refused to let the children receive the vaccine but also allegedly assaulted the polio team. The official added that the accused used abusive language and continued issuing serious threats to the vaccination staff. A case was registered.
Meanwhile, Badami Bagh police arrested a man for allegedly making a false robbery report to the police helpline in an attempt to evade repayment of debt.
The man had informed the police through the emergency helpline 15 that two armed bikers had snatched Rs200,000 and his mobile phone. Police reviewed CCTV footage, during which investigators became suspicious of the complainant’s account.
Over Rs16m gold, cash taken away
Armed robbers allegedly looted gold ornaments and cash worth more than Rs16 million after holding a family hostage in the Kahna area.
Two armed suspects entered a house, allegedly confined the family members in a room and escaped with around 40 tolas of gold jewellery and Rs200,000 in cash. Police said the total value of the stolen valuables exceeded Rs16 million. Police registered a case.
Car driver booked
Police have registered a case against an unidentified car driver for allegedly attempting to run over a traffic warden after being stopped for a traffic violation in the Mozang area. The incident occurred when a traffic warden signalled a speeding car to stop during routine checking. Instead of stopping, the driver allegedly attempt to hitthe official. A case was registered at Mozang police station.
