Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has taken notice of a woman being murdered in the name of “honour” after being declared “Kari” in Sanghar, and the alleged rape of a woman in Adilpur, Ghotki. He ordered immediate, strict, effective and indiscriminate action against all those involved.
Lanjar sought detailed reports from the Sanghar SSP and the Ghotki SSP, making it clear that crimes against women would not be tolerated under any circumstances, and that those taking the law into their own hands would be brought to justice.
Regarding the Sanghar incident, he ordered the immediate arrest of the prime suspect, saying that no leniency would be shown to those playing with human lives.
All individuals involved in the incident will be exposed and brought to justice, he added. According to the SSP’s initial report, an FIR has been registered and a suspect has been arrested.
Separately, after videos concerning the alleged Ghotki incident started circulating on social media, Lanjar ordered police to ensure immediate and stern action against the culprits.
SSP Anwar Khaitran said an FIR has been registered and a suspect arrested, while the Sukkur DIG has constituted an inquiry committee comprising the Khairpur SSP and the Sukkur ASP to investigate the matter.
Lanjar said that those involved in such heinous crimes would be arrested and awarded strict punishment. The protection of people’s lives and properties remains the provincial government’s top priority, so no effort will be spared in ensuring justice for the affected families, he added.
Separately, Home Minister Lanjar took strict notice of the murder of a young man from Nawabshah in Malir, Karachi, who was killed while resisting a snatching attempt. He directed the additional IG Karachi to submit an immediate report while ensuring the arrest of those involved in the incident.
He said that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands and directed the police to conduct an impartial and transparent investigation into the case.
Lanjar further instructed the authorities to ensure the immediate arrest of the culprits and bring them to justice in accordance with the law.
He said that protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the top priority of the Sindh government and that strict action would be taken against criminal elements involved in such incidents.
