As Eid-ul-Azha approaches, K-Electric (KE) has urged citizens to adopt essential safety measures and strictly refrain from using electrical infrastructure to tie sacrificial animals.
The power utility has emphasised that animals should not be tied near electricity poles, transformers, wires, or any other electrical installations, as proximity to such infrastructure poses serious risks of electrocution and injury.
In a statement, the KE has further advised residents to avoid use of water while washing sacrificial areas near electrical installations. Citizens are also urged to refrain from hanging decorative lights, ropes, or temporary animal enclosures on electricity poles or overhead wires. During qurbani, special care should be taken when using metallic tools and water in areas close to electrical infrastructure.
Imran Rana, spokesperson for KE, stated, “We also urge the management of cattle markets to ensure that temporary stalls and electrical setups are installed in accordance with safety standards, thoroughly checked prior to use, and connected through legitimate power sources, as illegal connections such as kundas pose serious safety hazards.”
K-Electric has also requested the public to promptly report any fallen wires, sparks, or unsafe electrical conditions through KE’s 118 helpline, official social media platforms, or the KE Live App, and to avoid touching exposed wires or damaged equipment under any circumstances.
