IHC grants govt two days to appoint NIRC acting chairman

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday granted the federal government two days to appoint an acting chairman of the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC).

A single bench of Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan heard a petition filed by Umer Baloch regarding the appointment of the chairman and members of the NIRC.

Additional Attorney General Rashid Hafeez appeared before the court and requested for two days for the appointment of an acting chairman, stating that the summary had already been forwarded and approval was awaited.

Justice Khan granted the government until Thursday to appoint an acting chairman and adjourned the hearing until May 21.
