Islamabad:A delegation of allottees of Green Enclave-I, a housing project of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority, met Secretary Housing and Works Captain (r) Muhammad Mahmood Rai here on Thursday.
Led by Ch. Amjad Ali, the delegation said that despite the passage of 17 years, the project has remained stuck in paperwork and verbal assurances, with no meaningful physical development. The delegation stated that thousands of allottees who invested their life savings are now facing growing uncertainty, frustration, and financial hardship due to the non-development of the scheme.
Ch. Amjad Ali showed distatisfaction over the performance of FGEHA, saying repeated commitments over the years had failed to translate into practical action. He added that the authority’s inability to ensure timely development has badly damaged public trust and raised serious questions about its planning, monitoring, and execution capacity. He urged the Secretary to intervene and direct immediate resumption of development work without further delay.
In response, Secretary Captain (r) Muhammad Mahmood Rai assured the delegation that completion of Green Enclave-I remains a priority and that efforts are underway to remove administrative and technical hurdles delaying progress.
Muhammad Khursheed, a member of the delegation, said the delay had created severe financial pressure on allottees, many of whom are government employees still living in rented houses and paying rising rents while waiting for possession. He described the situation as increasingly unbearable for middle-income families. Fayyaz, another affectee, said continued stagnation had created deep uncertainty, forcing many families to rethink their long-term housing plans.
