Pakistan-Turkiye cooperation stressed amid shifting Eurasian geopolitics

Islamabad: Chairperson, Strategic Research Center in Ankara, Prof Ramazan Erdag has condemned recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan and reaffirmed Turkiye’s solidarity with Islamabad.

Dr Erdag was addressing a seminar on “Recalibrating regional geopolitics in the age of greater Eurasia” organised here by Institute of Regional Studies (IRS). He underscored the role of regional geopolitics and connectivity corridors in addressing new challenges, highlighting CPEC and the Middle Corridor as key to strengthening Pakistan-Turkiye cooperation.

He also called for expanded bilateral trade, economic collaboration, renewable energy partnerships and strategic coordination. Dr Ismail Numan Telci of Ibn Haldun University discussed Turkiye’s evolving strategic role in Libya, Somalia, Syria and Gaza. He recognised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts during recent tensions involving the United States and Iran and emphasised the importance of Islamic solidarity, cooperation through the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and stronger Pakistan-Turkiye partnerships in trade, security and diplomacy. He also noted the countries’ shared positions on Palestine and Kashmir. Dr Farid Shafiyev, Chairperson, Centre of Analysis of IR, Azerbaijan, highlighted the increasing importance of trilateral cooperation among Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Pakistan in Eurasia.
