Islamabad:In a landmark step toward safeguarding the rights of the youth, the Ministry of Human Rights (MoHR), in collaboration with UNFPA Pakistan, concluded a high-level two-day workshop at the Best Western Premier, Islamabad, to finalise the "National Framework to End Child Marriages in Pakistan".
Addressing the workshop, Saba Sadiq, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights, emphasised that child marriage remains a fundamental violation of human rights that robs children, particularly girls’ rights of their health, education and safety.
She highlighted the critical link between child marriage, gender-based violence and honour-based practices, asserting that these interconnected issues must be confronted simultaneously to achieve lasting social change. At the end, Aziz Iqbal representative of Ministry of Human Rights thanked the participants for their inputs and deliberations.
