Islamabad:The mother of national hero and martyred police officer Liaqat Ali was honoured during a solemn and prestigious reception at the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) Headquarters here Thursday.
Upon her arrival, she was warmly received by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muhammad Sarfaraz Virk and senior officials, marking a poignant tribute to the legacy of her son’s ultimate sacrifice.
The visit featured the formal inauguration of a newly-established waiting hall at the headquarters, with the martyr’s mother performing the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event was marked by a deep sense of reverence as attendees offered special prayers and ‘Fateha’ for security of the nation and the elevation of the ranks of all those, who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Addressing the gathering, CTO Virk delivered a heartfelt tribute to Liaqat Ali Shaheed, recounting the officer’s extraordinary bravery in the face of imminent danger. The CTO highlighted that the fallen hero had successfully thwarted a suicide bomber, an act of gallantry that saved countless lives and remains a defining moment in the history of the capital’s police force.
Virk emphasised that the Islamabad Police holds the sacrifices of its martyrs in the highest regard, noting that such acts of courage serve as a source of national pride and a guiding light for future generations of law enforcement.
He remarked that the blood of the martyrs would never be forgotten and expressed profound gratitude to the martyr’s family. In a direct address to the mother of the fallen officer, the CTO praised her strength and role in nurturing a son of such fearless character.
He concluded by stating that the entire nation joins the police force in saluting her for raising a valiant guardian of the state whose legacy of service remains a lasting testament to the department's commitment to public safety.
