As US President Donald Trump conducts a high-stakes three-day visit to Beijing, a sophisticated and coordinated nexus backed by hostile countries seems to have emerged to undermine Pakistan’s pivotal mediation role in the US-Iran conflict, questioning its credibility. This campaign seeks to discredit Islamabad just as it successfully bridges the gap between Washington and Tehran. However, the nexus appears to have failed to sway the ultimate decision-maker. Before departing for China, President Trump praised Pakistan’s leadership. As Beijing and Washington discuss regional stability, it is imperative for the international community to look past the noise drummed up by the nexus and acknowledge Pakistan’s responsible role as an impartial facilitator.
