I wish to highlight the alarming rise of drug abuse in Turbat. This issue is rapidly destroying the future of many young people and creating fear among parents and teachers. Sadly, drugs are becoming easily available in different parts of the city. Many students and young people in general are falling victim to addiction due to bad company, lack of awareness and unemployment. This dangerous trend is affecting education, health and peace in society. Families suffer greatly when their children become addicted, while crimes and violence also increase because of drug use.
Despite the seriousness of the problem, effective action from the concerned authorities is still lacking. Law-enforcement agencies must take strict action against drug dealers and stop the open sale of drugs. Schools, colleges and social organisations should also arrange awareness programs to educate young people about the harmful effects of drugs.
