A man travelling to his hometown to bury his six-month-old daughter was shot dead by armed robbers near Sohrab Goth on Saturday , while his brother was also injured in the attack.

The incident took place near the Punjab Bus Terminal pedestrian bridge within the jurisdiction of the Sacchal police station. The deceased and injured brothers were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by ambulance.

The police said the deceased was identified as 27-year-old Mansoor Ahmed, while the injured was his 23-year-old brother Rashid. According to Rashid, both brothers worked and lived at a sweets shop in Nazimabad, while their native hometown was Ghotki in interior Sindh. He told the police that Mansoor had married two years ago and had a six-month-old daughter.

The brothers received news on Friday night that the infant had passed away, after which they left for Ghotki on Saturday morning for her burial. Rashid said the two brothers were waiting for a bus near the Punjab Bus Terminal pedestrian bridge when two robbers approached them and attempted to snatch their belongings. Mansoor, already devastated by the loss of his daughter, reportedly argued and scuffled with the suspects, after which one of the robbers opened fire, killing him on the spot.
