Four arrested in rape cases

LAHORE : Police have arrested four suspects in two separate criminal cases involving violence against a minor and a gang rape incident, according to a press releases issued here on Saturday.

In the first case, taking notice of reported violence against a minor in the Nawankot area, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran directed immediate action. Police registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s family and arrested the suspect, identified as Abbas. According to police, the 15-year-old boy, who was learning tailoring work, was allegedly subjected to physical abuse with a plastic pipe. The DIG Operations stated that violence against children is unacceptable and that strict legal action will be taken against those involved.

In a separate case, Sundar Police arrested three suspects in connection with a gang rape case.

The suspects were identified as Ghulam Mohiuddin alias Ali, Nasir alias Mandi, and Ibrahim alias Malangi. According to the spokesperson for DIG Operations, the suspects allegedly lured the victims by offering them a rickshaw ride and later assaulted them. After the incident, the suspects reportedly abandoned the victims on road and fled.

Police registered a case on the complaint of the victims’ father and initiated legal proceedings. Officials said the suspects were traced using modern investigative techniques and intelligence-based operations, and were arrested during raids conducted in different areas.
