LAHORE : The Cabinet Committee has reviewed necessary arrangements before Eidul Azha and Muharram and approved extension of deployment of rangers in Attock and DG Khan.
The 52nd meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order was held in the Home Department here on Saturday. Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee Khawaja Salman Rafique, Ministers Bilal Yasin, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, Bilal Akbar Khan and Syed Ashiq Hussain and others attended the meeting. Punjab Home Secretary Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi gave briefing on the latest law and order situation and government efforts. The Cabinet Committee approved the deployment of Price Control Magistrates in various districts of Punjab. It approved Rs650 million for cricket matches, by-elections, Urs and other expenses. The committee appreciated the special development package after the successful operation in Katcha area and considered various suggestions.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said a detailed review of the latest law and order situation across the province was taken. Law enforcement agencies are making full efforts to maintain peace across Punjab. There is a complete ban on banned organisations in Punjab from collecting hides of sacrificial animals. District Intelligence Committee meetings should be held in all districts in connection with Eidul Azha, the minister said.
Instructions have been given to quickly dispose of the applications of registered organisations regarding the collection of sacrificial skins. Meetings with scholars of different schools of thought are ongoing before Eidul Azha to establish peace, the minister added. Minister Bilal Yasin said strict monitoring of the entry and exit routes of animal purchase centres is extremely important. The administration of all districts should clearly display the lists of banned organisations. The district administration should be ready to completely control the extortion mafia, he said.
Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said that he appreciates the efforts of all relevant institutions to establish peace, adding hate speech and illegal use of loudspeakers will not be allowed.
Minister Bilal Akbar Khan said that strict monitoring of banned organisations should be done regarding the collection of hides on Eidul Azha and peace committees are of great importance.
Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said that all arrangements of livestock markets should be made exemplary and maximum convenience should be provided to the citizens.
‘Establishment of law and order and protection of lives and property of the people is the top priority of the Punjab government,’ he added.
Home Secretary Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi said that the implementation of the guidelines issued by the Home Department for foolproof arrangements on Eidul Azha should be ensured.
