Nowadays, students are becoming overly involved in social media platforms. The new generation spends a large amount of time scrolling through apps instead of focusing on their studies. As a result, their academic performance is declining, and their ability to concentrate on learning is also weakening. Another concerning aspect is the lack of physical activity. Children who once enjoyed outdoor games are now sitting in one place for hours, using their mobile phones. This inactive lifestyle is negatively affecting their health. Problems such as obesity, poor posture and reduced physical fitness are becoming common among students. Excessive screen time is also damaging their eyesight. Continuous use of mobile phones causes eye strain, headaches and long-term vision issues. This is a serious health concern that cannot be ignored.
It is the responsibility of parents, teachers and society to guide students towards balanced use of technology. Schools should also create awareness about the harmful effects of excessive social media usage and encourage students to participate in physical activities.
