MANSEHRA: The tehsil administration of Baffa-Pakhal has launched a crackdown against people polluting water resources by dumping animal waste and garbage in Shinkiari and its adjoining areas.
“We have launched the crackdown and directed the police and Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) to take strict action against those contaminating potable water by dumping garbage and animal waste into streams and rivers across the tehsil,” Assistant Commissioner, Baffa-Pakhal, Faraz Qureshi told reporters on Friday. He said notices had also been served on several residents and cattle owners in Shinkiari and its surrounding areas.
“The police and TMA are identifying areas where people dump garbage and animal waste and discharge sewerage lines into the Siren River and streams across the tehsil,” Qureshi said.He added that several cattle pen owners who had been served notices were directed to appear before him on Monday for legal proceedings.
“We are also using different platforms to warn residents living along the Siren River and nearby streams not to discharge sewerage or dump garbage into water resources, as it contributes to environmental pollution and the outbreak of diseases,” Qureshi maintained.
