PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC-MTI) has achieved a milestone by successfully performing Pakistan’s first endoscopic cardiac surgery for the treatment of a heart valve disease and a hole in the heart.
Using advanced camera-assisted technology and modern surgical techniques, a complex cardiac procedure was successfully performed on a 37-year-old patient, who is recovering well.According to the PIC’s surgeons, the advanced endoscopic procedure was carried out through small cuts with the help of cameras, without opening the chest.
This minimally invasive approach helps reduce pain, blood loss, and recovery time for patients.Dr. Mujeeb Dawar, Paeds Cardiac Surgeon at PIC, stated that PIC has emerged as a leading institution for introducing advanced and minimally invasive cardiac treatments. He added that the success was made possible through excellent teamwork.
