Kundi promises to help Bara residents get compensation

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday assured tribal elders from Bara tehsil of the Khyber district that he would take up the issue of compensation with the federal authorities.

A delegation of tribal elders from Bara, led by former MPA Muhammad Shafiq Afridi, called on Kundi at the Governor’s House and apprised him of the prevailing situation in the area.The delegation informed the governor that residents were facing difficulties due to the operation and said both security forces and civilians had suffered heavy losses. They said that the provincial government had failed to represent the people and expressed hope that the governor would help them get compensation for losses.

Talking to the delegation, Governor Kundi said sacrifices rendered by security forces and the people of the province, particularly tribal districts, would always be remembered.He said peace could only be ensured through collective efforts and emphasized that the people of the region would have to work together for lasting stability.

The governor said he would speak to the federal government regarding the formation of a committee for compensation.He added that after the 18th Constitutional Amendment, provincial governments had been empowered, and the KP government must play its due role in addressing public issues.
