FAISALABAD: Khurram Mukhtar, Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA), has urged the Punjab government to extend the proposed Faisalabad Mass Transit System to major industrial clusters, including Khurrianwala, Jhumra, Millat Road, and the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC).

He said that expanding the mass transit network to these key industrial zones would greatly facilitate millions of workers employed in the textile and manufacturing sectors. “Improved and affordable transport will enhance daily commute efficiency, reduce travel time, and ultimately support sustained industrial productivity,” he added.

Khurram Mukhtar appreciated the Punjab government for its commitment to public facilitation, business promotion, and industrial growth across the province. He particularly welcomed the recent high-level review meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, where progress on the Faisalabad Mass Transit System was discussed and directives were issued to expedite construction.

He noted that the chief minister’s instructions to ensure modern infrastructure — such as spacious elevators — and to promote environmental initiatives including urban forests and plantation at open spaces, reflect a forward-looking and inclusive development vision.

He stressed that integrating industrial areas into the mass transit plan would be a critical step toward making Faisalabad’s transport system more inclusive, efficient, and aligned with the needs of its industrial workforce.
