LAHORE : Scattered rain with thunderstorm was witnessed in the City early morning after which mercury came down on Sunday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.
The average AQI of the city was 69, which fell in the category of moderate while the PM2.5 concentration was 3.8 times the World Health Organisation annual PM2.5 guideline value. Met officials said the weather become pleasant after the entry of westerly winds in the city and a clear drop in temperature has been recorded. They said the maximum temperature in the city was recorded as 29°C.
On the other hand, Wasa officials were issued an alert in view of the fear of water accumulation in low-lying areas due to rain. Wasa MD Ghufran Ahmed directed all town directors to continuously monitor their respective areas and said that operational staff for drainage should be present in the field and any emergency situation should be dealt with immediately.
Met officials said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country while a shallow westerly trough was likely to affect upper parts of the country till next 36 hours.
They predicted that mainly hot and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country while very hot in southern regions. However, partly cloudy weather with rain-windstorm/thunderstorm was likely at isolated places in Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, northeastern/eastern Punjab, Potohar region and surrounding areas. Hailstorm may also occur at isolated places in Kashmir, Potohar region and northeastern Punjab during the period.
