LAHORE : Ameer-ud-Din Medical College Principal Prof Dr Farooq Afzal has introduced a Smart Management System at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) to further improve the quality of patient care, discipline and cleanliness standards.
Under the new system, Deputy Medical Superintendents have been fully empowered to ensure the implementation of government SOPs during their respective shifts and will be held directly accountable for any negligence. Prof Farooq Afzal directed sanitary inspectors and supervisors to maintain highest standards of hygiene throughout the hospital premises, ensuring staff attendance and the scientific disposal of waste at the ground level. Regarding security, guards have been instructed to remain alert and strictly enforce the ‘one patient, one attendant’ policy to curb unnecessary crowding in wards while maintaining a polite demeanor with the public. In line with the Punjab government’s priorities, the principal directed administrative doctors to adopt an ‘Open door policy’ for the immediate redressal of public grievances. Furthermore, nursing administration, nursing supervisor and ward sisters have been made responsible for the discipline and timely updating of medical charts in their respective units.
The new policy mandates that no administrative doctor or health professional may leave their post without formally handing over charge to the next shift. Paramedical attendance will be strictly monitored via a biometric system and unauthorised absence will face immediate disciplinary action. Prof Farooq Afzal reiterated that a ‘Zero tolerance policy’ is now in effect regarding discipline and patient care, leaving no room for any lapse in duty.
