Dengue surveillance in all govt offices ordered

LAHORE : CEO Health and officers from all relevant departments have been directed that dengue surveillance must be ensured in all government offices at any cost, and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Capt (retd) M Ali Ijaz issued these directions while chairing an important review meeting of the district administration Lahore on Saturday.

The ongoing measures and future strategies to rid the city of deadly diseases like polio and dengue were reviewed in detail during the meeting.

DC Lahore clarified that the complete eradication of dengue and polio is the government’s top priority, and for this purpose, 1,316 teams are active in the field day and night.

DC Lahore reaffirmed the commitment that the dream of a polio-free Pakistan will only be fulfilled through public cooperation and tireless hard work, and the war against these deadly diseases will be continued to the final limit for a healthy Lahore.

The meeting was attended by the CEO Health and officers from all relevant departments, where a briefing was given on the significant achievements and targets regarding public health so far.

The deputy commissioner was informed that during the previous anti-polio campaign, 100% targets were achieved by completing the vaccination of a record 2.2 million children in Lahore, while the next polio campaign will commence on May 18, in which 5,825 mobile teams will go door-to-door to administer polio drops to children.

Regarding anti-dengue efforts, the meeting was informed that only 4 cases have been reported so far this year, and all affected individuals have fully recovered due to timely medical aid, which is a testament to the district administration Lahore’s successful preemptive strategy. Appreciating the 344% increase in the detection of dengue larva and the effective coverage of 30,162 hotspots.
