LAHORE : Provincial Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique chaired a meeting of contractors working under the Chief Minister Punjab Development Programme via Zoom on Saturday.
Provincial Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique directed the participants to ensure completion of all development projects within stipulated deadlines.
He said that the performance of all schemes was being continuously monitored and, in line with the chief minister’s directives, strict implementation of safety protocols at all sites must be ensured. He further instructed contractors to immediately initiate double shifts to expedite the pace of work.
The meeting was held under the aegis of the Punjab Local Government Department to review progress on ongoing development schemes across various cities of the province.
Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmed Mian and Project Director Punjab Development Programme Shahid Zaman Lak were also present. More than 50 contractors participated in the session.
Secretary Local Govt specifically directed contractors in Sheikhupura and Vehari to accelerate progress. He said that regular monitoring reports were also being obtained from deputy commissioners regarding development works. He emphasised that payments to contractors were being made on time and that no financial constraints would be allowed to hinder progress. He reiterated that there would be no compromise on the pace and quality of work and stressed the importance of healthy competition among contractors.
Project Director Shahid Zaman Lak said that contractors delivering quality work would be encouraged, adding that sufficient funds were available to ensure timely payments. The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing development projects across Punjab within deadlines and according to high standards to provide improved civic facilities to the public.
