LAHORE : The Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal Prof Dr M Farooq Afzal has stated that given the continuous rise in cancer cases among women the establishment of a modern, comprehensive and dedicated Breast and Gynae-Oncology Institute has become an inevitable necessity of the time.

Addressing the concluding session of the ‘Gynaecon 2026’ organised by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lahore General Hospital (LGH), he highlighted that such an institution would serve as a hub for research, advanced diagnostics, effective treatment and professional training, playing a decisive role in safeguarding the lives of thousands of women.
