LAHORE:Heavy rainfall witnessed here in the provincial metropolis on Wednesday morning bringing a sudden change in weather while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

The average AQI of the city was 82, which fell in the category of moderate while the PM2.5 concentration was 4.5 times the World Health Organisation annual PM2.5 guideline value.The city witnessed a mix of clouds and sun, which has made the weather pleasant at early morning and in the evening hours. Met officials said maximum temperature in the city was 29°C while the minimum was 23°C. They said humidity in the air was 39 percent, due to which the feeling of humidity may persist. Met officials added that winds blown at a speed of 6 kilometers per hour in the city, which was proving to be helpful in making the weather relatively moderate.

The officials predicted that a new wave of westerly winds will enter the country from May 2, due to which strong winds and rains were likely in the city from May 2 to 5.According to experts, the rains will bring a temporary drop in temperature, but the intensity of heat was expected to increase again after May 5.

The Deputy Director of Met office said that May and June will be the hottest months of the year while the temperature may exceed 45 degrees Celsius in the last 10 days of May.Met officials warned that there was also a risk of heat wave and heatstroke in Lahore, in view of which citizens have been instructed to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during the day.
