LAHORE: Heat wave continued to prevail in the provincial capital despite partly cloudy weather here on Monday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

The average AQI of the city was 95, which fell in the category of moderate while the PM2.5 concentration was 6.5 times the World Health Organisation annual PM2.5 guideline value.On Monday, the provincial capital recorded an increase in intensity of heat. Met officials said the maximum temperature of the City was 41°Cwhile the minimum temperature was 27°C. They said the humidity ratio in the air reached 21 percent while the wind speed was recorded at about 5 kilometers per hour.

Officials predicted that the temperature may continue to rise in the coming days, due to which citizens have been instructed to take precautionary measures. They also issued a new alert regarding heat wave across the country.

They said the situation of ENSO and IOD was still neutral. They added that the temperature may be recorded 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than normal, with temperatures predicted to reach 43 to 45 degrees Celsius in the plains. In addition, rains were expected in the upper areas from April 27 to April 29, with the temperature expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius due to rain. The heat wave was likely to intensify again after May 1.
