LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bokhari has said that Punjab has recorded wheat production exceeding its set targets, demonstrating the effectiveness of government agricultural policies.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that all rights and facilities are delivered to the people of Punjab at their doorstep.
While addressing a press conference on Monday, Azma said that the ‘Apna Khet Apna Rozgar’ initiative is a game-changing project for landless farmers and a major step towards strengthening Punjab’s agriculture and economy. Under this scheme, land will be provided to landless individuals on a 10-year lease, benefiting around 88,000 families.
The minister informed that over 900 applications have already been received for land leasing. Farmers are being provided land worth Rs2.5 million to Rs4 million, ranging from one to five acres in different areas. Additionally, a one-time grant of Rs50,000 will also be provided.
She stated that multiple initiatives have been launched under the leadership of the CM Punjab to create employment opportunities and reinforce the province’s economy and agricultural sector. She added that the current government has taken exemplary steps across various sectors, with ‘Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar’ emerging as a flagship programme aimed at converting barren land into cultivable farmland.
She added that programmes such as the ‘Himmat Card’, ‘Dhee Rani Programme’, Kisan Card, and Green Tractor Scheme demonstrate that the CM’s initiatives are not merely slogans but are delivering tangible results.
Speaking about the Film City project, Azma said that 50 acres of land have already been allocated. The project will include modern studios and post-production facilities, enabling Pakistani filmmakers to avoid costly foreign travel for production and editing needs.
About political situation and public activities, Azma stated that granting permission for public gatherings is the responsibility of the district administration. Referring to the Pakistan Super League, she appreciated the enthusiasm of fans and stressed the need for positive recreational activities instead of disruptive slogans.
