The body of a minor boy who went missing after falling into a water pipeline in Sacchal Ghazi Goth two days ago has been recovered, rescuers confirmed on Sunday.
According to a spokesperson for Rescue 1122, the 12-year-old boy, identified as Zahid, had fallen into the water line on Friday. A search operation had been under way since the incident. The body was retrieved on Sunday morning from Saadi Town. It was shifted to a morgue for medico-legal formalities.
Zahid was a madrasa student and the eldest among five siblings, including three brothers and two sisters. His father was a labourer, and the family hailed from Loralai, Balochistan.
Officials said the pipeline, locally known as the Saadi Town canal, is part of the Water Corporation system. Initial reports suggest that the boy accidentally fell into the pipeline while playing. Residents said similar incidents had occurred in the past at the same location, but no effective safety measures were taken by the authorities concerned.
Man drowns

The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Gadap City police station. Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the scene and recovered the body from the drain.
The deceased was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital through an Edhi ambulance for legal formalities. Police said the man appeared to be between 20 and 30 years of age. No identification documents or belongings were found on him, making immediate identification impossible.
