ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday reacted strongly to criticism by ruling PMLN President Mian Nawaz Sharif regarding its performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that his remarks were in complete contradiction to ground realities.
A PTI spokesperson rejected the criticism outright and claimed that the PMLN leader had made a failed attempt to divert public attention away from pressing national issues.
Responding to the remarks, the PTI spokesperson said, “The PMLN has ruled Punjab seven times, yet even today people from rural areas to major cities are deprived of basic facilities such as clean drinking water, healthcare, and education. Instead of meaningful development, citizens have been given exhibition projects and extensive advertising campaigns. If the performance had truly been impressive, the people of Punjab would not be facing inflation, unemployment, and administrative mismanagement.”
The spokesperson further claimed that the healthcare system in Punjab was in a state of severe decline.
He alleged that basic health centres and government hospitals lacked essential facilities, while there had been an alarming rise in the spread of infectious diseases, particularly HIV, which he described as clear evidence of governmental incompetence and flawed policies.
